Keeping the Sacred Secret

We must keep sacred secrets, not everything is for everyone, and some things are for no one but you. It’s a lesson I have had to learn again and again. Maybe like me, you, with the best of intentions experienced the truly miraculous, a shift in perception. A shift brought on by a passage in a book, a few words in a speech, a touch, a breath, or maybe it was the way that for a brief moment sunlight shone through the leaves casting delicate shadows on your body, and from that moment you found yourself changed. What a revelation to have held! You tried, despite all the limits of language, to convey all the magic and beauty of that moment to someone, the wave of understanding that washed over your being, the sudden presence of comfort, a certain kind of knowing that seemed to fall into your hands. Maybe they listened with a restrained annoyance, maybe they mocked you outright, or maybe they just could not, through no fault of their own, understand you. And once the sting of rejection subsides maybe you can understand that not everything is for everyone, maybe your message is only for a select, an elect audience, or maybe it was a gift from the Divine for you and you alone. Each soul  has their own path to traverse and some things can only be experienced, there is no other way of coming into a certain kind of knowledge. This is where we must rely on discernment. All our insights and understandings are gifts, we must be careful how we share them and with whom, not out of a sense of superiority, it is all too easy to develop a certain kind of spiritual grandiosity that divides and others, but out of a sense of protection for the preciousness of one’s own journey.
